Garapa Brazilian Hardwood Decking

Brazilian Garapa Decking? Garapa is a blond oak color and is beautiful and long lasting decking.  Unlike Oak, it is twice as hard. Many of our Island customers allow their Decking to just turn gray.  When it greys it looks a lot like Ipe but at about 30% less prices.   Cheaper to buy and cheaper for import taxes.  Garapa has a lovely golden honey color and a reputed 25 year lifespan.

brown garapa blond garapaGarapa deck, is frequently refered to as Brazilian Oak decking.  The reason is the resemblance of the natural wood of both Oak and Garapa is similar.  Both are blond but Garapa is about twice (2x) as hard as oak. Garapa (Brazilian Oak) is honey-yellow when cut with slight ribbon effects that becomes light brown with age. Interlocked grain with medium texture. Garapa decks like all Brazilian woods are naturally resistance to decay like mold and fungus. It is also resistant to termites and insects. As a decking it is a very color consistent and it hardness makes it naturally scratch resistant. An option some people prefer is a darker color and use brown finishers.
